XviD and other MPEG4 FourCC's

It would be nice if XviD dsfilter decoder supported decoding of other MPEG4 FourCC's such as DIVX,FVFW,3VIX etc... I think it shouldn't be too hard to implement (although I personally have no idea how :D ) and we would have a very small handy dsfilter that could be used every time without having to change the fourcc's... Pleeeeeaaase?

1st of all thanks for the quick reply Manao. Of course I know about ffdshow! :) Who in this forum doesn't? :D And i know that it can use XviD for decoding. The reason I am asking is because XviD decoder is so much smaller that ffdshow and could be more easily included in a CD. It would be nice to have a 250K filter decoding everything IMHO.

I've just understood your question :) I was thinking of something else. If you compress ffdshow.ax, it will take 264 K. But I don't think the purpose of the XviD decoder is to decode other codecs.

Maybe you can change the FourCC of your DivX or 3ivX file to Xvid and see if it works or not.

It does work and I know it! XviD can decode anything just fine. ;) Anybody can test that by letting ffdshow decode all mpeg4 material using XviD. I just want this to happen without ffshow and without having to change FourCC's...:p

also support for "mp4v" would be great to be able to connect to .mp4 files
