I'm using a lite on 4x dvd+/- R/RW with ridata dvd+r media. i've burned two copies of the matrix reloaded now, but neither will play on my playstation2 (bought two months ago), which happens to be my primary dvd player. what gives? the first copy i made had no menus, but ran flawlessly (i believe i made it in nero's recode2. the second was made with dvdshrink, imgtool, and burned in nero (problem here??).
what i dont understand is why it won't run in the playstation. has anyone else run into this problem as well (plays in one machine, not the other)? is there something i am doing wrong (or not at all)? would i find different results if i burned the dvd with dvddecrypter?
ultimately, i'd like to be able to play the dvd in both machines because i watch them at home on my television and on my laptop while traveling.
help would be greatly appreciated!

Your compilation probably differs from the DVD standard. Some players are capable to live with these diferencies some not.

You can give DVD Decrypter a try ;). In my experience DVD Decrypter in combination with ImgTool classic produce the most ¨DVD standard compatible" discs.
What exactly did you playstation when it refused to play your compilation? Does your compilation include AUDIO_TS folder? Does it include some "zero bytes" files? Does it use UPPER CASE?

when i put the dvd in the ps2, i get "disc not detected" or something to that effect. i'll try burning from dvddecrypter, as i'm sick of making coasters out of my dvds since they dont work on both systems

First. NO + MEDIA FOR PSX2
It is know to not work sometimes.
And for your 2nd method. I think you must change some options in NERO.
I use DVD-Video:
ISO tab: ISO LEVEL 1, ISO 9660, Disable Joliet, disable all "Relax ISO Restrictions"
Label: No changes
Dates: No Changes
Misc: No Changes
Burn: Write speed to the lowest.
That's all, try it out and please let me know if this helps !!!

well, actually, my ps2 ONLY reads + and does not work on - whatsoever.
second, i have found dvd media to be picky with the ps2, much more so than the xbox. for example, while +r works on my ps2, not ALL +r works
third, i just burned with recode 2 and it doesnt play on my xbox, yet the files can still be read and played, it just cant pull the menu up. dvd2one and nero works flawlessly, so i am going to do some trouble shooting if i get around to it. kind of strange how nero burns them fine but recode2 doesnt. i think it might lay in how the files are treated like someone else said (uppercase, audio_ts folder, etc.)
we'll see what i come up with, eh?
