I've used recode to put two movies on one dvd and while that has worked, it doesn't create a menu. Ifoedit shows the two titles, but can anyone recommend a way of adding a simple menu to allow me to select which movie to play? I've tried menuedit, but it doesn't recognise sny of the vob filers created.

Wow! Almost a year of registration and we finally get to see your first post!
Anyways, for your situation, you would have to use a DVD Authoring program. Try DVD Lab or TMPGEnc DVD Author. They both have full 30-day working trials. If you have any questions about them, you can post in the DVD Authoring forum.

The two dvds I had were The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded. I tried DVD Lab and that bailed after about 2/3rds of the first track (The Matrix), no errors or whatnot, just said it was all completed.
TMPGEnc DVD Author wouldn't load the audio of the second track at all, but with help from elsewhere I understand this is a known issue with DVD Author. A workaround is to combine the two DVDs first with a menu using DVD Author and then run the recode.
HOWEVER, this seems to highlight a feature of Recode2 in that it will not compress the result enough to fit on a DVD. I cannot make it compress further, despite a lot of manual fiddling. There seems to be an inbuilt factor which stops you from getting the compression factor down (or up depending on your point of view).
I guess it's not unreasonable that I'm getting a problem, given the DVD image it is compressing is around 10G, but still annoying.
I shall have to see if any other products can handle this. Shame really that Recode2 doesn't have a 'create menu' at this point.

As long as your backup disc is marked ep 1, 2 and 3. Pressing 'next title' on your remote takes you there. Whole point of a menu to me is just to remember what's on the disc. My menu is my magic marker on the dvd itself.
Yea I think TMPGEnc DVDAuthor and DVDLab still only do one audio track.

@dms:
You can use "dvdauthor"...
More information here (http://users.adelphia.net/~liquid64/dvdauthorguiguide.html) .
The program can be downloaded here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools?section=2#2) .

Well pinacle also blagged out on the large combo DVD image after a couple of hours, so I'm putting this problem to bed for a bit.
I too think the magic marker on the DVD is a good menu. The thing I liked about having a menu when putting the DVD in was being able to keep the chapters. Without chapters it would be easy enough to skip to the next movie with the remote. With chapters you have to press it a fair number of times :-)
Who knows I may even email this point of being able to add a menu to the guys at nero. Seems like a small point, but I'd vote for it.
Thanks all

FYI: The 'next title' button mr bass is referring to is different than the 'skip next chapter' button. It should allow you to skip to the next title bypassing all the intervening chapters. Look for a button on your remote specifically labeled 'title'.
Incidentally, on my player it isn't a 'next title' button. Mine brings up a small OSD that lets me select the title I want to go to, forward or backward.

I like dms am looking for a simple menu creator for backed up DVD's Ie: I have Arrival and Arrival 2 backed up on a single dvd-5 (originaly a dvd-10 flipper.) Would like to have a simple menu, a couple of buttons with the titles beside them, then loop back to the menu after each movie plays. No pictures or anything fancy. Is there a progam that will do this straight fom the vob's without coverting to mpegs, etc.

this can be done with DVDAuthor...
If the audio, differs, just load as 2 separate tracks...
u can create menues with orig chapters, for both
u can then select which one to watch, or use the Play all
button to view both'
With Shrink or Recode, when u cut or combine, when u reach the last
chapter where the cut/combine point is,u cant skip to the next
chapter..

Thank you Gang$ta. Tried it and it works great. Was concerned at first because saw nothing in the specs about working with .VOB files. Liked it enough to buy it. Thanks again.
