FYI - any input appreciated :)

xCaster is a transport stream server which streams *live* DTV transport streams over local area networks.

- An ATSC compatible DTV board (MyHD, AccessDTV, Fusion, Hauppage) is required. You also need a player (VLC works currently quite well).
- MyHD support is at 99% and has been tested on MacOSX, Linux, and Win32 players - other cards will require some tweaks to get them to work.
- The streamed video generates a small server load (a few CPU % on my P4), and one can use a MacOSX, Linux, or Windows VLC client to play back the video.
- The benefit here is that one multicast TS stream is viewable by an infinite number of viewers, without increasing the network load or server load. Also, it means you don't have to purchase a HD tuner card for every PC in your house (nevermind that many OS platforms do not have HD options).
- I've tested streaming over 100baseTX and 802.11a/54g WiFi links with success.

- Download Links and a FAQ are available at http://www.streamxpress.net/xcaster/

I would value any input, while the app is in beta its fair game to change almost any feature (or add new ones). Note that a custom video player, distributed and server-side TS recorders, and an embedded webserver / TCP API for automation purposes are being worked on.
