I'm not sure, it uses the 878A though so I'm assuming that if I configure Vdub right I can capture 720X480 right?

Oh well... I'll just wait for an answer.

If anyone can find a better card for around $50 PLEASE TELL ME!

AFAIK with this driver http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/ it should definately cap @ full PAL / NTSC.

But 50$ seems a bit much to me - cant you get one of those new cards that dont use 878 chip?

Well I'm very n00bish to capturing (Not encoding itself but the whole capturing deal) I was under the impression that the 8x8 would be good since so many ppl use it.

So if you CAN find me a nice card that captures full NTSC PLEASE send link.

Cant help ya much but my brother got a 8x8 based card (used) from ebay for 25€. It does the capturing job perfectly.
With the mentioned drivers capturing in Full PAL / NTSC shouldn be a problem and I have been doing this for some time with all kinds of codecs and resolutions (DV / XviD / Huffy).

There are some good reasons to go with a 8x8 card like software support etc...

Interesting thread. What caught my eye was that $47 vs 25 Pounds.

From what I can tell, $47 = 25.5 Pounds. So I'd rather buy from NewEgg vs Ebay for half a pound. :) And that includes shipping for NewEgg (probably not for the Ebay quote).

Here is a link to all of the cards at newegg

The cheapest is the Prolink 'PV-BT878P+' for $32 shipped. You don't get a remote. Which may not matter depending on what you use it for. The cheapest newer chip card is the Prolink 'PV-CX881P' $39. It does not even have a tuner.

The leadtek you asked about does do 720 or even 754 if you have the btwincap driver. However, i'd say there is little reason to cap higher than 640, except for possibly the convience of making dvds from broadcast. That's another topic. ;)

You seem to get alot with the leadtek, a remote, fm, etc. I guess it all depends on if you are going to use them. I'm not sure how 'Watch high-quality TV with dbx-stereo ' works. Some of these cards have stereo and some do not. I thought you needed a BT879 to get 'full' stereo (whatever that is).
