ffdshow glitch?

Hey, I have an Xvid encoding I did about 2 months ago with whatever Koepi's latest build was at the time. It looks fine played back on Koepi's, Nic's, or Umaniac's decoders, but has occasional glaring problems with ffdshow.

I have a videoclip sample (4 megs, 15 seconds long) which illustrates some of the problems I've been having with it well. In it, a guy walks across the screen and if you look at the upper right corner of a large computer he passes, you can see some nasty (streaking? bleeding? I don't know the right term) until the video hits the next keyframe (which is rather obvious in ffdshow), then it clears up. On the regular Xvid decoders, this clip should look fine.

I'm curious as to any comments/questions you have, I'm just presenting this is as food for thought more than anything else.

Maybe I'm asking the obvious here, but did you try setting the IDCT setting on the "Miscellaneous" page to "XviD"? That's the main cause of smearing when using ffdshow for newer XviD content.

That said, I'm really starting to like the new XviD decoder better than ffdshow, especially when it comes to postprocessing... :D

I'm also 100% sure that it does work for some other people. Must be a bug in gui (hooray for MFC, probably).

About the IDCT, I played with all the options, including the error corrections.

Shodan, thanks for posting the screenshot, I should have thought of that. Anybody have a clue why this happens?

If my encoding settings are wanted, this was pre-beta, so it's a little bit different I'm sure as experienced people here know. They were all left on the defaults, Motions Search Precision was on 6 and Quantization type was on MPEG, standard 2-pass encoding letting the codec max out. I can't remember if I used chroma motion or not for that, intially I was dubious of it.

Oh, and if anyone's wondering, the movie is Altered States, pretty kickass movie if you haven't seen it.

I can verify the streaking too, both with Xvid codec, albeit an old one, and ffdshow using xvid codec, and ffdshow using no xvid codec but still decoding xvid.

When using xvid codec only, the streaking seems a teensy weensy bit less pronounced though...

Which decoder/how old then? My results were exactly like the ones Shodan posted. At the time I made this, I tested ffdshow, Umaniac's, Nic's, and Koepi's latest decoders.
