Question 4 u all;
I have backed up many DVD using DVDshrink to fit them on a standard 4.7 DVD-R with no problems. However, the last 2 i tried, it didnt shrink them enough to fit(I had to delete some sound files so it would)and i am not sure why. DVD shrink is set to automatic and i didnt mess with any settings. Also the DVD i was backing up wasnt as big as some that i have and they were shrunk just fine. Any help is appreciated.

It's all about content.

A 90 minute DVD that's 8.5 GB will probably shrink down just fine. The authoring studio took advantage of all the extra space on a DVD9, and encoded the movie at a really high bitrate - probably higher than it really needed, but then there wasn't any reason for them not to. Using a really high bitrate gave DVDShrink a lot of room to work with.

A 150 minute DVD with lots of extras all compressed down to 7.0 GB is a different story. The content is already compressed to a very high degree. There just isn't enough slack for Shrink to work with, so it can't compress the movie enough to fit on a single DVDR, at least not without getting rid of something completely (disabling an audio track or two, or setting some extras to still frames).

Some people have reported that you can put a DVD through Shrink twice. I doubt the results of even the first 'max compression' run would be very good, let alone the second, but you could try it.

Oh, BTW: SPOON!
