I have tried to burn a DVD since Christmas with my new pioneer DVD burner, i finally used DVDShrink and burned using Nero 6 but the playback is haphazzard being choppy and stopping, can someone explain the difference between 4x and 2x burning, my media is 4x, can this be burnt at 2x, and would this improve the quality of the burn as I appear to be getting bad playback at 4x, or could there be another reason I am getting bad playback.

Also what is joliet? I followed a nero burning guide from www.polarhome.com:793/~afonic/nero.htm to the letter except it will not let me set the jolliet setting the same as in the guide, the jolliet setting is greyed out, will this cause this playback problem, and if yes, how do i change the jolliet setting?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

One of the first things you could try, is to test your encoded files in your favorite media player. Two of the most often used are WinDVD, and PowerDVD. If your file presents the same problems when viewed in a PC media player as it does with your standalone, you'll know that you have a problem with the encode, and not the burn.

I can't help you with the definition of "joliet", because I just plain don't know. :) I ran a forum search on the term, maybe you could do the same and find something more meaningful than what I could hook you up with. Or, someone could drop in and educate the both of us, where there's life there's hope!

Let us know which title you're having fits with, you may be so unlucky as to have picked one that has known peculiarities, making it more difficult to deal with. Good luck!

Joliet is a standard for CD-Roms made by M$ !!!

The Joliet standard has some advantages over the old ISO9660 standard...

Here (http://www-plateau.cs.berkeley.edu/people/chaffee/jolspec.html) is some Info about the Joliet specifications !!!

And here (http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdr.html) is some general info about CD's !!!
