Got a Liteon 411S for Christmas, thought I'd try my hand at backing up some of my DVDs. First, I backed it up with DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5, then stripped out just the movies (no compression whatsoever) and burned with ImgTool Burn 1.1.0. Both movies seem fine, but when I watch them on my player downstairs, they skip. 20 or 30 minutes in, they'll skip over two minutes of video. I can rewind and make it skip again, or rewind to just after the skip and watch from there. I'm using TDK 2x DVD-R blanks, and I can post my options screens for the two programs if necessary (basically, everything was left at the defaults). Also, I tried this again by using DVD Decrypter to move the files to my HD from the DVD, then using Clone DVD to strip out everything but the movie and burn.

So what could it be? Software I'm using? Burn speed? Media? Player? I'd like to be able to get it to work on both of my DVD players.

Alot of older Standalone dvd players will have troubles with some dvd-r media. I was having skipping problems with my Philips which is about 2 years old. I solved this problem by buying a 39 dollar apex dvd player at walmart, it plays anything I can throw at it perfectly.

Yeah, I just watched it on my Apex and it did pause about 1 or 2 seconds. As that normal for a copy? And is there nothing I can do to make it 100% compatible on both players? Could it be media?

Well dvd shrink has a known issue involving layer breaks that can cause "some"players to have difficulties, however most newer players play them fine. My sony is from 2001 and it plays all these dvd shrinked movies without any problems. i haven't even noticed the pauses people talk about.

There is hope that at some point the author of dvdshrink will release a fixed version, but I don't have much hope of that, so we'll have to live with it.
