How to encode an MP4 file that is Quicktime compatible?

Looks like Quicktime doesn't like all the possibilities of MPEG4 (MP4 container), is there a list of features I have to disable to make my MP4 "Quicktime compatible"? :rolleyes:

QuickTime will only play compliant Simple Profile MPEG-4 Video + Stereo/Mono MPEG-4 AAC Audio, muxed in a compliant MP4 file.

I would suggest using the 3ivx video encoder with its default advanced settings, and then muxing audio+video into an MP4 with the 3ivx MP4 muxer. You can find quite a few guides at http://www.3ivx.com/support

This will give you a file which will play with QT6, straight off the bat.
