question on time

I have a large mpg file that I burned into a DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author. It plays on my DVD player fine but when I press the "goto" button on the remote in order to go to a particular time, I'm not able to. I get a circle with a line across it. Goto works fine with a regular commercial DVD. Is there something special I need to do when I author the DVD so I can go directly to any time in my video?

A dvd uses the so called Time table to be able to do searching. Probably the software you are using either doesn't create or you have to make it create one. I don't knoiw this software in detail so I really can't tell you.

Just further to what influenza said, I believe you can verify is this is the case using IFOEdit. VTS_TMAPTI should be filled with values on DVDs produced with decent authoring software, if it's blank then try another authoring app if you want this feature.
