Having sucessfully re-authored a few DVD's (thanks to the help I got here) I obviously developed notions of grandeur. I have now run into a problem. Shrink produces the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS files and reports no problems. Image Tool Classic 0.91 seems to have no errors either, the log ends like this:-

99.94% done, estimate finish Wed Dec 31 10:50:29 2003
Total translation table size: 0
Total rockridge attributes bytes: 0
Total directory bytes: 4248
Path table size(bytes): 42
Max brk space used 4000
744935 extents written (1454 Mb)

However, DVD Decrypter reports:-

Cannot open file: \_00
Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.

In the Classic folder there are two files:-
Percy_00 1,073,764,...
Percy_01 451,862,528

Any suggestions?

David

The only file extensions that DVD Decrytper recognizes are

IFO
BUP
VOB
BIN
IMG
NRG
CDR
ISO
PDI
DVD
LST
GI
MDS

Well, according to my knowledge.

That explains your _00 and it doesn't recognize this extension so it couldn't find it. ;)

Yes, I realize that Decrypt can't recognize \_00 as a file type, but every other time I've used Shrink and then Image Tool to make an image all the information to burn a DVD has been passed, or detected, by Decrypt without any input. So what went wrong this time?

Perhaps this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63102&highlight=imgtool) could shed some light. Coujo and LIGHTNING UK! working together? That's powers combined! ;)

I've found the problem! It's amazing what you can find out by making enough mistakes. When using Image Tool it's not enough to accept the default, DVD.iso for the output file. Not even enough to enter a name in place of "DVD". You have to enter a name for the file AND add the .iso extension even though it is the default extension in the input box. That's it, and Decrypt picks up where Image Tool finishes.
