MPEG to DVD??

Help pleez! I cant find reference to this on any posts (or maybe I'm just being thick!) if I download a movie of say 800mb in mpeg format, how do I convert it into a file(s) that can be written onto a blank dvd....as opposed to just making a video cd from it? is there a program out there that does this? Iv'e looked everywhere.thanks.
