ok i tried 3 b-frames and no matter what i do Xvid only does
2 b-frames. the first pass file and i see only this

p 2 26 891 379 28280 1603
b 4 0 1296 0 3845 614
b 4 0 1296 0 4289 696
p 2 38 891 367 28791 1672

never 3 in a row and the ratio of 1 P to B same as when only
2 b-frames are input. Debug on second pass shows same thing.

next I see zones going crazy with b frames. I did a zone for
credits at Q=20 but I see this in the first pass file

b 17 0 1296 0 565 221
p 20 35 265 996 1367 740
b 31 0 1296 0 196 165
over and over

Q=17 and Q=31 on b-frames. Only p frames hit Q=20

shouldn't in zones the ratio/offset for b-frames be overriddin
and ALL frames hit what you asked for???

As it stands now, zones with b-frames are VERY BAD
since it appears the b-frames are still getting ratio/offset
to higher Q values to the point of making the credits
look very very bad.

I want all frames in a zone to hit the Q value i asked for.
Is this possible?

What you set is a maximum value, it will only be reached if b-frame decision says so. If you want higher chances, increase b-frame sensitivity (in zones tab).
