Welcome to the forum :).

You can´t simply make image from your original DVD because of CSS protection and because of the size of your DVD.

1) CSS protection can easily be removed with DVD Decrypter or Smartripper

2) Size of your original DVD may vary from DVD5, DVD9, DVD10 to DVD18 while your blank DVD±R media is only DVD5 (4 700 000 000B). So if your original DVD is DVD5 you can rip it into image with e.g. DVD Decrypter and than burn on blank DVD±R. If the size of your original DVD is bigger than 4,37GB (4 700 000 000B) you have to reduce the the content of the original or split it over more DVDs.

There are a lot of great guides on doom9 so read them first and you will learn a lot about DVD backuping ;).
