Some BIG problems

Hello everyone,

Well i'm not quite sure where to begin. For starters i'd like to point out that i'm a bit of noob and secondly i've been up all night (it's now 8:55am) trying to fix this darn thing.

It all started a few weeks ago when I thought i'd be clever and download a cracked version of DivX5. As it states in one of the stickies it totaly trashed the quality when I tried to encode some counterstrike videos :( I then reinstalled the official one from the site but I was still getting a bad output. Now I've turned to XVid and to my horror I'm still getting the same problem. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the dodgy version I installed or I might just be using awfull settings. things seemed to work fine before the cracked version.

If someone could point me in the right direction or maybe have any suggestions as to why im always getting this bad quality i'd really appreciate it.

After all that I forgot to mention one of the other BIG problems lol

So I completely uninstalled DivX and now when I install it again it's not shown in the list of avalible codecs to use i.e. when I use videomach to string together all the captured jpegs all I can select is XVid...

Please, help me in my time of need.

Instead of cracking DivX illegally and worrying about the effects, another option would be to actually purchase it. It's even on sale right now for $15. While I understand that the concept of purchasing software for some people is like trying to breathe under water, $15 is a pretty fair price for software used on a daily basis, especially considering that free upgrades are included with it.

Also, if you'd like people to help you, it would be beneficial if you actually described the exact problem you're having. "Bad output" really isn't going to garner much help, I'm afraid.

You may want to uninstall everything, and make sure all your registry enteries are cleared out before you reinstall. This has been a problem with other people. But with multiple 'versions' of DivX and Xvid, and not knowning any other details, it's too difficult to make suggestions.

If you go over to http://forums.divx.com and look at the top of the Newbies forum there is a tool there called "BigFix" which should clear up your codec problems.
