first of all, id just like to say a big thanks to Koepi - ive been using an older version of xvid for a while now, but thought id give the new build a shot. im definately impressed - i was trying to back up x-men 2, and with my previous attempts with the older xvid, i was getting average results at best. after grabbing the latest, i tried it again overnight, and as a comparison, i checked out a screen cap of the dvl release, and damned if i dont think mines crisper, and just plain better =P
now, the prob...
ive never used b-frames before, but i figured id give em a shot this time round... it encodes fine, i can play the movie back just fine, i can jump to any point i wish, and theres no problems. but when i load it into nandub (to add sound), and i try jumping to a spot, i sometimes see this:
warning: nothing to output bfrane decoder lag.
i can drag the time bar along, and see the rest of the film, but i have trouble hitting the same mark more than once (if i use the buttons to click to the next "i-frame") - its like the keyframes are all out of whack.
as a comparison, if i dont use b-frames, i have no problems. i can hit the "jump to next i-frame" button, and ill always hit the same marks (same instances in the film).
is this error normal? is it ok just to ignore it? or will it cause huge problems in the future. this error is what i was getting with old xvid, and it kinda scared me off using it. i want to know that if i try and play this movie on my sister's, or my other comp, that it'll still actually work.
hope ive been clear, and dont sound like too much of an idiot, but i cant learn unless i ask questions.
and yeah, i did do a search on the forum for this question, but im hoping someone can explain it a bit better (with small words, and little cave drawings :))
thanks.
Eberhard.
