AC3 with Windows Media Player 9

Hi, i'v just reinstalled XP Pro with the AC3Filter v0.70b, Divx 5.03 Bundle an Xvid codec and ffdshow, this was the codecs I used in my last install and along with "WinDVD 5 Platinum v5.1" "BSPlayer", "Creative Playcentre3", and WMP 9 - I never had a problem with AC3 in WMP, but I do know! I have a Mpeg2 video file that I use for test (working before reinstal)and it wont play the audio in any player I have. Before, WMP would play the AC3 audio of this file with no probs, although it was the only player that would play the AC3. For the same video file I have the original AC3 audio file that I used to multiplex with TMPGEnc, it plays fine in Creative Playcentre but the mpeg2 file wont.
Any ideas people, this is doing my head in.:confused:

try to disable ffdshow. it might be registered to handle this stream, but unable to decode it.

No, didnt help avih, just tried-I thing WMP is using the AC3Filter v0.70b, it's in the WMP Tools-Options under DVD-Advanced, dont know if this is useful info or not.

Dont know, and I wont be changing back cause it worked with WMP 9 2 days ago (with all the Windows updates). Same set up as before, though I dont know if I instaled all the codecs in the same order as I did on the last instal! Previous to WMP9 (even updating from the windows update site), never had a problem either, it has to be something daft (probably me) but getting an answer to an AC3 codec problem is hard,

Personally I don't use WMP9, I hate things that uses more than 2% of CPU to operate itself.

I think with 512 DDR memory that would be the last thing on yer mind!
Especially low latency RAM, I have 1GHz DDR mem and the last thing I worry about is CPU or Mem usage with media players, more than ample.:confused:

Use MPC or GraphEdit to see what filters are being loaded when you try to play it back.

If the AC3Filter is being used, what speaker config is it set to use?

GraphEdit tells me that the Intervideo audio decoder is being used (but when I look at the DVD tab in "Tools-Options-Advanced" in WMP the AC3Filter pops out) ,
Not sure what this means but any help is much appreciated.

Does the audio play in GraphEdit? What if you connect the AC3 filter instead?

It's ok Pamel, got it fixed, uninstaled all codecs done a registry restore from back up then reinstaled codecs, fixed the problem ;) ,dont know what happened to begin with though, I also wouldent mind knowing how to play my video file in WinDVD (v5.1 Platinum)Same prob, no audio, which I find confusing because GraphEdit told me that WMP was using the Intervideo codec?!?
Any thoughts?
