View Full Version : Should Virtual Dub 1.4.13 be able to open an MPEG (SVCD) file?

I have an MPEG file which purports to be an SVCD (though it was named [filename].mpg when I got it).

When I try to open it in Virtual Dub, an error results:

"MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronisation error"

Is this normal or does it indicate the MPG is corrupt?

If I open the MPG in DVD2AVI 1.76, create a D2V project file, then use VFAPI to convert that to an AVI, the AVI opens OK in VDub.

thanx

VirtualDub 1.4.13 opens MPEG-1 only, SVCD is MPEG-2. You can open the SVCD video via frameserving, though, either like you've done it or via AviSynth (create d2v project, then use the MPEG2Source command to open the d2v file).

You could also try VirtualDubMod, it opens mpeg2 files

Download it here: VirtualDubMod (http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/11/2/2/11-2-2-29.shtml)

But no offence to you bb, your solution is ok ;) :D
