Pretend I have a CSS key. Does anyone happen to know what file(s) are needed and what's contained in those files (including format) to put CSS on a DVD? I know that anyone with any idea what's going on can get past it, but still, I want to experiment for the fun of it.

Ok, I've figured out basic CSS implementation with Scenarist (3.0), but alas, it won't burn with sector size 2054 on a Pioneer A103 =O(

Hi merlin! Actually the thing is you cant really burn a DVD with CSS keys... You could create a premaster, which you will need a DLT for it.I dont know the differences on 3.0 because I haven't upgraded my program. I still use the old 2.6 So if you want me to write anything or try something writing to DLT i can do that for you.

I hope this helps!

No recordable DVD format supports a 2054-byte sector size. 2048 bytes only. Thus, no CSS protection is possible on any disc except glass-mastered discs produced at a replicator.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I am curious, though, as to why CSS isn't available on consumer-burned DVD's. Anyway, thanks!

Because if the media permitted it, a program could be written to do bit-for-bit copying.
