Hello everyone,
When I use re-author/Start/End to cut out scenes I get frame freezes when playing back a movie. Is there a way to make the cuts smoother, without the freeze.

The frame freeze is your player moving from one title to the next. DVDShrink creates a separate title for each start/end.
There is no way to fix this using DVDShrink alone. I believe you'd have to use some authoring software to basically recombine all the separate titles into one title.

I'm not sure, but I believe that DVD2One can create seamless title switching.

Just run your DVD Shrink files through IFOedit, creating a "movie only" version of... well... your "movie only" DVD Shrink project. I tried this while merging both TWO TOWERS EXTENDED disks: I used Recode to merge (the process is identical to Shrink), which created a movie-only copy -- but with two titlesets. By loading VTS_01_0.IFO into IFOedit and selecting "VOB EXTRAS," I was able to use IFOedit to create a new, "movie-only," copy which only had ONE titleset.
BTW: Those interested in using CCE or TMPGE instead of Recode or DVD Shrink can still use this method and be assured that your chapters will all be present in the end -- as will your subtitles. Just select 100% on the slider, so that you won't compress anything while running Recode. Or, of course, select "no compression" while running Shrink. Then you can do your DVD2AVI project (yadda yadda yadda) from this file and have everything you want right there to work with.
Hope this helps!
