I used :
- decrypting : DVD Decrypter
- DVD copy : the "DVD Shrink 3 - full movie" procedure, indicating the parts I don t want as still pictures.
- Burning : Nero, "DVD-video, no multissesion, new
- using the Pioneer DVR-A04 CD-R/RW writer

The resulting DVD-disk plays perfectly well on my PC, using POWER DVD.
However, using the same DVD-R disc on my Pioneer DVD DV-454 player results in "can't play disk".

What should I do ?

What version of Nero did you use?? Here are some quick tips:

Do not use wizard in Nero.
Try another burning software (e.g. ImgTool Classic and DVD Decrypter - absolutely free burning solution ;)).
Try another media.
There shouldnīt be any "zero bytes" file on the disc - delete them, perform ifoedit and its Get VTS sector and burn again.

Totally agree with previous poster. Up until changing to a Sony multi-format drive, the ONLY way I could get a burn to play on my Pioneer 350S (I believe the same as 454 excepting Optical OUT) was by using DVD Decrypter ISO Write mode to burn it as an image.

I tried Nero, Recond Now Max and Prassi all to no avail, but EVERY single burn I did using the ImgTool + DVD Decrypter method worked, on "-" or "+" media at 2X.

Oddly though, with my Sony burner I can burn direct from Nero (I have 5.5.10.20) onto "-" or "+" at 4X with no failures. I can even use the crappy unbranded stuff - although longevity is iffy with these Princo type brands I hear. The ImgTool and DVD Decrypter method works perfectly also, just don't use it anymore.

Interestingly, every one of the failures I had when trying to get this working did play perfectly in the PC with PowerDVD, just as yours did. I believe there is an issue with Pioneer players when using certain Nero versions (especially when using the Wizard) so I just avoided it during the life of my previous burner. I used the Compatibility Chart over at dvdrhelp.com to check what anyone else had found out - it was v. helpful.

Hope this helps

You have to make an ISO file of the contents of your AUDIO_TS folder, and your VIDEO_TS folder.

Then you burn the ISO using dvd decryptor or nero.

If you make a multisession video disc or something with nero, then you really aren't making a dvd for a standalone player, you are making a video disc with dvd files on it.

I hope that makes sense for you.

I use IMGtool to make my images and they work fine.

Just use Imagetools. It uses the nero engine but it sets it up properly so you don't can't make any mistakes.

Look for Coujo's post in this forum, he posts a link to the website that hosts imagetools.

I couldnīt agree with using combination of ImgTool and demo version of Nero. I used this combination with great success on all my standalones but friend of mine wasnīt able to play my disc. I thought it is media or his standalone issue but combination of ImgTool Classic and DVD Decrypter was fully functional. I donīt know why - maybe CouJo know the answer...
