I have tried using a program called 'DVD Copy Suite', or DCS, which does most fuctions for backing up my DVDs, but I have never been able to create an image of a DVD on my harddrive. When I start creating an image the time elapsed is the only thing the changes, in the end I have to kill the program through the task manager. I am using a pioneer burner and Windows XP Professional OS.

Has anyone else had a similar problem that they have corrected?

Are there many programs that burn/ compress from a image file?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum-

Are there many programs that burn/ compress from a image file?

Well, DVDDecrypter can create the image file from the DVD, and burn it as well. But that works if the DVD is originally a Single Layer DVD-5. If it's Dual Layer, then you have a variety of choices. Here's Doom9's DVDDecrypter DVD-5 Backup Guide:

And here are the other DVD Backup Guides:
