I see on the front page of the Doom9 site that Plextor has released a new firmware that is supposed to improve compatibility with more DVD media. Anyone have any idea what now works that didn't before? Plextor does not seem to have updated their compatibility list.
I ask because I'm considering one of these units, but I don't want to run into the same problem I ran into with one of their 24/10/40A units - I couldn't find compatible media in any store I checked. I ended up buying online 25-pks, and had to hope that they worked. I reallllly want to be able to head down to Best Buys/Compu USA and be able to get media in small quantities to try instead of having to mailorder it and hope...especially at $2+ a disc.
I think the lack of compatibility with commonly available media is Plextor's big handicap.
