The reason I'm asking is because the VOB files is all I have but SHRINK needs them all. I'm going to burn them as DATA hoping it will work.

? you copied or ripped the vob's to your hd? when just before you lost your original purchased DVD right? well since that's the case maybe more info would help. Did you rip/decrypt them to your hd with ie: DVD Decrypter before you lost you dvd? or just copy them? if thats the case your sol. If you properly ripped it, it is possible still to re-encode and mux - build burn a new dvd so you don't have to go buy it again.

Burning as data almost certainly won't work if you plan to play the disk on a stand-alone player.
Like a set top player, Shrink requires the complete DVD structure. The IFOs contain important information about the layout of what is in the VOB files (program chains, what audio streams and subtitle streams are present, and a lot of other stuff).
You might be able to create dummy IFOs and VIDEO_TS title set using DVDFab or IfoEdit and get Shrink to process the movie for you that way, but I don't have much hope that it'll work. Your best bet might simply be to get the original DVD again.

I used DVDdecrypter to decrypt the files. I don't remember what mode I used because it was a couple of months ago before I moved. All I got was one IFO and 7 VOB files and they played well in PowerDVD without the IFO file which I still have. Now that I need the room on the hard drive I want to put the files on a disk. Is it still possible for me to reconstruct the files from what I've got?

It sounds like you ripped either in IFO mode or in File mode. Either way, since you don't have a complete set of files, it's hard to predict what will happen if you try something. You can only try, and see what does happen.
About the only thing I can think of to try is using DVDFab to create a sort-of dummy VIDEO_TS title set. You can download the older, free version of DVDFab from doom9's download page. It has a button on the main GUI that says something like 'Create Video_ts'.
After you do that, you can try opening the files in DVDShrink. If Shrink opens it, try to re-author the main movie (which quite possibly is the only thing that is there) and see how it goes.

From what I understand you just want the VOBs stored on DVDr, regardless if you can't have the movie playing. You just want to get the files off to free more hard disk space. What I would do is burn the first four VOBs in a VIDEO_TS folder unto your data DVD. Do the same for the other 3 on another DVD. Now, if you decide to join the files again. Just rip them all back to your harddrive.

From the replies I see there's a couple of things I can try.
First I'll try burning them to 2 dvd disks but I don't understand why I have to rip them back to my hard drive when I'm ready to use them. Can't I just copy them since the VOB files are aready decrypted? Doesn't ripped mean the same thing as decrypted?
