The divx pro codec from the official site is 5.67mb,but if u try to download it from <edited website name> its size is 5.99mb!!
And the word "gain" is missing from the filename(it is the pro version though).
Which to trust?

As far as I am aware. The non Gain version of the DivX pro codec is only available from www.DivX.com
If you are thinking of getting DivX pro (non Gain) without paying for it, then it's a hookie version. And discussing hookie software and detailing info about it's origin breaks the forum rules!
You will most probably receive a strike!

I went to the site in question, and saw several different 5.1.1 packages there. In order to even check them, I would have to sign up for membership, which I have not elected to do. I do not know anything about the site, other than it is hosted and managed from Romania. I have taken the liberty of editing the name of the site in this thread, just in case they are offering an altered DivX Pro non-Ad supported version, which normally requires licensing and registration to use, which would be considered piracy.
DivX Networks offers three different packages -- DivX Pro, DivX Pro Ad Supported, and Standard DivX -- and as SeeMoreDigital says, they are the source to go to to ensure you have the correct release.

The other site mentions "adware" but the filesize is just a bit larger.I wasnt implying anything on piracy and "non-adware,pro version" and dont get too stressed on that..i know most of the forum rules.
It just bugged me that the same version is larger in another site, that's all.
And u dont have to be a member (I think) in order to download from there, jggimi.
Guess i'll d/l from divx.com,but if anyone knows whats wrong with the other file, please post here:confused: .

It's possible that the redistribution is legit. I merely excised the name due to concerns that it might not be so.
DivX Networks states:If you want to re-distribute DivX® software or DivX Pro™ software for any reason, you definitely need to check with us...I understand a number of personal use software packages include it, such as the Gordian Knot project.

Greetz It's probably full of spyware!
If you don't want to pay for DivX pro, then install the Gain version and disable the Gain element by following Doom9's instructions and/or other members posts!
Either that or buy yourself a Xmas prezzie!
Cheers
