View Full Version : DVD2DVD-R+CCEbasic+DVDauthor sort of seems to work for NTSC

I had my computer churning away from last night 'til this afternoon trying to make a backup of 'RAN' (a long Japanese classic epic with substitles). DVD2SVCD failed to work for me so I was trying to use DVD2DVD-R... it finished fine but in the Scenarist stage it 'choked' (maybe it was the subs, I don't know). Anyway, in trying to salvage what I could, I opened DVDauthor and put the m2v and the AC3 files in and it worked! sort of... I couldn't figure out how to get the subs in... Bummer! To tell you the truth, I was actually very surprised since I had not read about anyone else doing this. So far I've only managed a cursory glance at the finished product but it looks really good. I don't have anymore time to play with this today but just out of curiousity I'm going try a much shorter movie tomorrow and scrutinize it very carefully to see if there are flaws or limitations when using DVDauthor.

If anyone already knows anything about using this combo, please post it here and save me some time... Thanks--

Sounds good but scenarist most likely wouldn't choke if you omitted the subs also.

MrBass...
The only reason I find the use of DVDauthor for remuxing exciting is its affordable price ($68 vs Scenarist $max). Well it seems to work quite well with the only limitations I've noticed so far being... can't do subtitles, only one sound track (AC3 is ok but no DTS capability), doesn't transfer chapter points though you can create your own chapter points if you want to.

@monomer

Can you tryout this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66964) for me when you have a m2v for remuxing?

definitely buddy but I might not be able to get around to it until this weekend... thanks for the guide, it looks simple enough...
(Keep in mind though that if I add too many more 'clicks' to the routine, this thread might no longer qualify as a 'one-click' solution...)
