Hi guys, this is my first visit to these forums so if I'm posting in the wrong section then im sorry.

My problem is this, For days now I have been trying to covert a large .mpg file to dvd format so i can burn onto dvd.

I originaly started off with 4 svcds ( which where 4 parts of the same movie ). I then joined the 4 .mpg files with DVTool.

This left me with one 3.2 gig .mpg file. Now in the past I have used Ulead DVD workshop to convert these .mpg files into dvd format. It creates all necessary files so i can use Nero to burn them onto DVD.

The problem Im having is that when i play these dvds back .. the first 5 mins or so the sound is ok .. then the sound decides to jump forward around an hour or so.

I read the svcd dvd guid on doom9 and downloaded many programs including VCDgear ... TmpgENC .. dvdpATCHER ect. but most of them are for joining files.

Can anyone plz tell me if there is a program that will create a DVD folder or file from a .mpg file?? I have wasted 11 dvd discs at the moment and its getting frustrating :(

Is there such a program that exists similar to dvdworkshop which converts and builds the dvd directory?

Any help on how to get these .mpg files into .vob would be greatly apopreciated. Regards nick

In all honesty I think the DVD Authoring form is closer to the mark.

Do a search for "SVCD" in the DVD Authoring forum. I'd be amazed if you don't find any useful info.

in short - use dvdlab.
...and if I may add - buy a dvd-rw, much cheaper than 11 coasters...

good luck.

hardc0re,

Try this:

http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/svcd.html

This tool should be able to accept your SVCD clips, and convert it to DVD-compliant, and create all the necessary DVD folders (i.e. AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS) with the VOBs underneath.

Hope this will help.

Cheers,
