Dvd Encrypter error....can someone explain??

I got this message while trying to decrypt Finding Nemo:

Anyone explain to me why I got this, the error occurred at 56% done?

I'm using a Liteon 166S to read the disc.

The drive errored out whilst trying to read sector 1330812.
And the reason...'CIRC unrecovered error'.

Probably due to dirt or a scratch on the disc.

i have some question to an error when i decrypt Born 2 Die
DvD decrypter shows me an error in VTS_01_4.VOB.
I just cant ripp this VOB in file mode!!
is there another option to get this VOB on my Harddisk??

All other files are ripped fine...

Erm no, not really.

You could keep hitting retry in the hope that it would work one day or you could give up!

Try cleaning the disc. Failing that, take it back to where you got it from and have it replaced.

I got the same error. I ripped over 450 DVD's and I've been using DVD Decrypter for 1 1/2 years. I tried four programs and none will extract vob 2. I tried a used DVD and a brand new DVD and both stopped at the same place. The DVD I'm trying to rip is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I'm also having a problem ripping Dumbo.

It's NOT the DVD having scratches because there are NO scratches.

It could be the DVD drive but it's been working great and never had any problems.

Any ideas?

defects can be invisible too. There doesnt have to be a big visible scratch on the disc for it to be unreadable. It's not a general problem with that title either because I can read mine just fine (but then i'm R2 and you might not be).

Thanks for the response. The defect must be present on the used and NEW disc in the same place because I get the error in the exact same place on both discs. I wonder how likely that is.

I tried two DVD's and 2 DVD drives and had a problem ripping in the same place on vob 2.

I bought my first DVD burner today (made by Lite-on) and it still had a problem ripping the vob 2 but after about 15 seconds of trying it was able to rip the ENTIRE movie. :D

Im getting the same kind of problem trying to backup "Two Weeks Notice", dvd decrypt and dvd shrink both throw errors and super riper just froze.

If anybody else is having this problem and has a dvd player + a dvd burner, then try analyzing the movie with the burner instead of the dvd player. Ignore what the previous guy said because my movie was new and I fixed the problem using my burner instead of the player. And a comment, know what your talking about before you shoot down what other people are saying.

@ tmalleryAnd a comment, know what your talking about before you shoot down what other people are saying. ummm...out of interest did you happen to miss the realisation that not only is LIGHTNING UK a respected moderator of this and many other dvd forums BUT also the author of DVD Decrypter! :eek:
AND at any point in writing your response did you consider that:
a) you did not supply enough information to accurately give any response other than a cursory one?
b) that if there is anyone out there that knows more about decrypting i'll eat my hat (and yes this is a turn of phrase, 'cos i dont actually own any hats..)
c) that it is always a recommended procedure, when having ripping problems, to try multiple drives, especially a DVD writer as the accuracy of the read varies so much between different drives ...

anyways ... congrats on sorting out your problem and posting a solution but seriously, next time, be a bit more respectful of your environs.

I would expect the samethings from a respected person. But that person choose one way of solving a problem and said that was it. Every person should know that there are several solutions to any given problem, I just asked that Lighting(who ever) be more open instead of saying
"same kind of problem = same kind of response". Which is a stupid thing too say if my problem was fixed and the other guys wasn't.

Plus to further explain what I said about fixing the problem for those who didn't understand: if you have 2 dvd drives( 1 burner, 1 player ), and the problem occurs while you are using the player try using the burner instead. I was using decrypter + shrink and they would both crash + through a similar error to the one originaly brought up (In the first post). So I put my dvd (Two weeks Notice) in the burner and used DVD Decrypter, and the problem was fixed.
I wasn't trying to say that Lighting(who ever) was wrong. His response could be why some people are having problems, but I was just memtioning my problem some of us could work together to finding an answer, NOT just pushing the problem to the side and saying 'the disk is scratched,' when clearly brand new DVD's that work everywhere else arn't damaged.

try it on a friends dvd drive, you might just be unlucky to have a low quality one. i ripped a movie that i had to recently throw away because it stoped working in my dvd players. when i did rip it, it took about 60 retrys before it passed a really bad part of the movie.

I have a similar problem:

I tried ripping LOTR1 Original DVD with my Toshiba SD-M1802 (different Firmwares including patched one from rpc1.org), it fails when it was at 46%. DVD has no scratches or something.
I tried ripping on another PC with another DVD Drive. It worked fine. BUT: The DVD Drive was a Toshiba SD-M1712.

So how is it possible that im able to rip whole DVD with same drive, just with older revision? Or can it be that my 1802 is damaged?
Any other peoples tried ripping LOTR 1 with a 1802 ?

It might be better to be more general, and just say that if you have multiple DVD drives, and it fails in one, try another one.

(I've had the opposite experience, where a couple of discs that I couldn't read with my burner I was able to read on my laptop, which only has a reader.)
