View Full Version : Branching - and how to deal with it in DVDShrink?

Hi to all
I have a PAL r2 copy of Independence Day that I want to shrink to 1 DVD+R (8X burning just rocks!!). This disc has two versions on it, the theatrical and a special edition with a few scenes extra. These scenes are seamless branching type extras that slot in as you watch.

I use DVDShrink 3.05 Beta and only do the main movie with no extras, no soundtracks other than the DD or DTS, and no subs.

However when I loaded this disc into DVDShrink, it reports that the main movie is on Title 1,2. I used the preview and you could see the additional scenes playing directly alongside the original, hence scenes were replaying themselves twice with subtle differences.

Could anyone advise what I need to do to get the special edition only, ie with all the additional scenes in place, overwriting the original scenes (as when you play it back)?

If there isn't a way I suppose I could do the shrink with the scenes all playing incorrectly and then edit the VOBs myself - but I don't really want to become a film editor!!

Could I use a ripper to identify the vobs I need? Currently I do my DVDShrink stuff direct from the drive as it's a R2 locked drive and I'm only really working with R2 material. I have got DVD Decrypter v3.1.6 - would I be able to get the exact files I need using that?

Thanks in advance to all

JF

EDIT:
I have just explored the file structure in DVD Decrypter using the IFO mode (never used this one before) and it lists the VTS_01 with two PGCs, one 9 minutes longer. What do I have to do in this mode to rip the files that Shrink can work with to my HD?

Forget it....

Dipshit attack over - dragging the movie into Shrink and it separates the two versions for you! D'oh! :o

Red Stripe just nukes my brain..... :D
