what's the problem with red?

Yeah, why is red in every movie the least accurate encoded colour? Even in a DVD, you can see artifacts in red patches (streetlights, flashlights etc.) and only there. Naturally the same when you encode the DVD into Avi. Why is that? What's the problem with red? Thanks, Alberlie

MPEG separates images into three channels: Y, Cr, and Cb. Y is the level of brightness, and Cr and Cb are color channels, mainly the levels of red and blue. The color channels are encoded at 1/4 the resolution of the brightness channel, so you may see artifacts along the edges of a bright red (or blue) object. Mostly red, though, because your eyes are more sensitive to red than blue.
