Is there a utility that someone could point me to that will identify the attributes of an .AVI file. Basically, what I am looking for is a tool that will tell me file type (Divx, Xvid, MPEG4, etc.) and resolution, bit rate, etc., and any other good info that might be useful to know. I am looking for a tool that gives me this info on files that have already been encoded with either DivX or Xvid.
Thanks!

Try GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe).

AZencoder asked about mpeg-4 codecs in .avi containers. For additional tools, see this recent thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67249) from the DivX Encoding (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=56) forum.
For other containers, I recommend the New A/V Formats - Containers (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=74) forum.

Hi-
In addition to GSpot, DRF Analyzer (http://www.geocities.com/analyzerDRF/) can also be pretty useful.

GSpot seems to be what I needed. So Far it has everything that I was looking for (BitRate and Codec used to encode). Very impressed with DRF Analyzer as well.
Many thanks for the quick reply!!!
