Hi, all, i have a little problem... I want to Create a DVD with 3 Svcd movies, not big deal, there are some tutorials about it. The problem is that since my DVD player couldn't read SVCD subtitles, i usually encoded with CVD subtitles... After skimming through some tutorials, i noticed that none of them said anything about cvd subtitles... What i want to know is if it is possible to convert a svcd to dvd WITH the cvd subtitles (or converted to dvd subtitles).
Any help apreciated... Many thx in advance.
Cheers.

Hmm. A long and difficult way. Have a search using "vob2sub".

Let me know ;) .

Thx for pointing me in the right direction. Now i need to get MAESTRO  , and hope that after that, the fact that i use two audio streams in the svcds don't confuse the dvdlab.
Cheers, and once again many thx.

Erm, could you tell me why you need DVDMaestro? If you just want an authoring tool, Ifoedit will do, and it's a freeware. To tell you the truth, I've tried DVDMaestro and never succeeded creating anything. Let me know.

Nevermind, i found a tutorial about vob2sub that required MAESTRO...
Also... Is there a way to (in DVDLAB) create a movie from a svcd with 2 audio streams??? After demultiplexing i get two mpa's. I drag the video file ok, i drag the first mpa ok, but that's all. Is it possible to add the 2nd mpa too? I'm reading some tutorials about adding 2 audio streams in DVDLAB, but they all refer to VOB's, not to separate streams from a svcd... :(
Many thx in advance.

Once again, IfoEdit seems to be what you need.

Let me know

Yes... i've read about it.... if i had any ifo to edit... i'm converting from a svcd... no ifo's ...
Sorry my ignorance if i'm talking nonsense... all the tutorials i've found were about editing dvd to add an extra stream of audio...
Do i have to compile the Svcd's to get the dvd and then edit it and add the extra track?
Cheers.

Yes, you're deeply in nonsense, but everyone can be so. I started, so, anyway  . Listen. IfoEdit is much more than an editor ; it's a very usefull tool tha can author DVDs. Here is how it goes (but you could have performed a little more search about it, it wouldn't have hurt :sly: ).

You have to extract you mpg file (and structure, if you want to keep chapters). VCDEasy will do it.

Then, you have to demux this file (TMPEGEnc can do this). You'll have for each mpg file a resulting video file (m2v) and one or two audio files (mpa or mp2, it depends on which prog you use to demux).

Next, if you want subtitles, extract them (vob2sub) and convert them (srt2sup). I wrote some quick helps about it, but excuse me, for now, I'm a bit tired :( .

All this is about one disk ; if you want to join two or three disks, it's going to be much more time and work. Believe me, if you want "quick" results, you should act as if each of your disks were full movies. If you're more confident, then, join. But don't come telling me I didn't warned you :D .

You have also to edit the xml file VCDEasy extracted to have your chapter positions ; they are done in seconds, you have to convert them in frames (x25 in my case) and save it as txt.

Let's check it up. You should now have 1 video file, 1-2 audio files, 1-4 subtitles files, 1 chapter file... Let's author. Launch IfoEdit, select "author new dvd", be curious, and good night.

Gonna sleep for now  , but let me know.

PS : sincerely, you didn't search enough ; I've learned all I know in doom9's forums :) .

Hmmm... since i want to put 3 svcd wich are 2 cds each... having to do all this 6 times is simply not worthy... Thx anyway pepipocpoc, maybe in a year i'll try again, maybe there's some programs that automatize at least the audio problem.
Cheers.

Oh, I do it all the time ; it's true that it's quite a long way, but you get used yo it. Anyway, I would too like a tool that could automate all this mess.

Cheers
