i would just like to know if gknot, or any program that it's containing, are multi-threaded.
or in other words, is there a sugnificant improovment in encoding/decoding time on dual procesor systems???
thank you.

well, i'm sorry but i still (after looking in all of what came up in the search) didn't find a simple answer to the simple question.
from what i understood, some programs in the gknot support dual processor and some don't so, if that's the case, will the overall result will be worth the extra cost of a dual processor machine?
thank you

Don't you hate getting condemed....? I've recieved alot of flogging for some of my posts....:D and search doesn;a always help either... Anyways it's good news for you! The program that does the encoding (virtual dub) IS multi-threaded! I can only speculate as to how much speed is gained with more CPUs as I only have a Hyper threaded CPU and not actual Dual CPUs. The latter of which would proccess multi threaded programs better. I get about 40-60 FPs with DivX 5.1.1 using a HTed P4 3.0GHz @ 3.25GHz 868MHz FSB.
