I upgraded my dvd2svcd to build 1.2.1 build 3. I was using version 1.1.2 before. I'm trying to backup Raiders of the Lost ark, movie only, to my dvd+r. I have a 16:9 television. In my old version of dvd2svcd, I can select anamorphic in the aspect ratio on the conversion tab, but it does not appear in the new build. How do I convert this widescreen version movie so it plays right on my widescreen tv?

Before someone scolds me about searching the forums, I've searched, and if the answer is in here I apologize, but I did not find it.

The answer has been posted many times but hey. The search function is good but far from foolproof. So here goes...

In the Misc. tab in DVD2SVCD you have a "DVD2SVCD level" option. Set this to Advanced and the anamorphic option becomes available. This is considered an advanced feature since the tool was primarily developed to create SVCD's. SVCD is a 4:3 format and so anamorphic SVCD's are not standard-compliant and do not play correctly on most DVD players. In earlier builds, when the anamorphic option was available to all, many newbies were creating useless SVCD's and couldn't work out why. It just caused so many problems it was changed to an advanced-user-only option.

Clearly now DVD output is possible, for which anamorphic will be the most common output aspect ratio, this may seem kinda strange but the decision to "hide" this feature was based on sound reasoning!

Nick,

Many thanks. I knew the answer must have been in there somewhere. The question seemed way too simple.

Thanks again,
