before posting this, i did do a search and couldn't find anything related, just so ya know. ;)

i recently formatted my system and reinstalled gk 0.28.7 and the codec pack.

i followed the directions for setting GK up for divx 5 and clicked on the "options" tab (per the guide), then on "first pass" and "nth pass" and "credits" buttons, but nothing happened.

if i skip this step and set everything else up, i end up with an avi that's 14gb!

what exactly am i doing wrong? i've used GK in the past with excellent results and now i'm just having problems getting it set up again. since my system just doesn't feel the same without GK, can someone help me?

in case it's needed, my specs are:

amd 1800+ (1.53ghz), 1.5gb sdram, 1 40gb western dig hdd, 1 60gb western dig hdd, 1 80gb seagate hdd, promise raid card, creative snd blaster 5.1 gamer, gf fx 5600 ultra 128mb, asus a7v133-c mobo, 12x dvd-rom drive, hp 9500 cdrw drive, win xp pro sp1.

Hello, koko, and welcome to Doom9's forum.

It "sounds" like the DivX codec, was not installed. It's part of a separate Codec Pack 1.6 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=77391&package_id=78307). If it is installed properly, it should be in the list of available codecs you can see from VirtualDubMod's Video...Compression pulldown menu.

thnx for the welcome. :)

i reinstalled the codec pack. i did not install part of the divx pack (gator).

in the video compression list in vdub, i see divx ;-) fast motion & divx ;-) low motion, but i noticed these are divx 3 and 4.

do i have to install gator in order to get the divx 5 codec?

For the Pro version, yes. See this sticky thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19583) in the DivX Encoding forum.

well, i've tried to install divx511bundle.exe several times...and to no avail.

everytime i try to install it, a window pops up near the end of the installation and announces, "divx511bundle.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

i've d/led the official version from the divx site and have no programs running in the background during the installation attempt.

anyone else having issues installing the divx codec? :(

**update**

nm. i found a beta version of 5.1 and it installed fine. i wonder why the official version wouldn't install?
