Will the AutoGK take over further developement of Gordian Knot standard(i only call it this cause it aint exactly auto matic)...

I kind of liked the ability to calculate avs files and do the tweeking myself.(i never used gordian to actually render anything just calc out stuff)...

so if this version is no longer supported then ill have to depend on other people's calc's(that don't always work reliably) to figure out file sizes..

Seriously doubt it. Gordian Knot is still the best frontend for experienced users who want control and flexibility in their encodes. I doubt many hardcore video fans will ever be satisfied with a fully automated solution.

I do however forsee lots of GK users switching to AutoGK eventually. AutoGK may even render GK redundant for some people once it starts supporting advanced features like Qpel, GMC, or consecutive B-frames that are getting more and more support on standalones. I use AutoGK for almost all my XviD encodes.

Still think AutoGK would be perfect if it automated the ripping process as well. Lots of people don't know how to properly use DVDDecrypter.

Hi-

Lots of people don't know how to properly use DVDDecrypter.

True. But the AutoGK Guide is fairly complete when it comes to describing how to use DVDDecrypter. Have a look, and let me know of anything you can think of to improve that portion of the Guide.

I wonder why len0x didn't make command-line support into AutoGK in order to integrate it into Robot4Rip. Robot4Rip supports subtitle preferences, does a great part of the ripping process, supports batch ripping, and has an "Application" tab where we can insert any application we like to grab the D2V file and the sound file.

This would be a killer without necessarily integrating the two products into one.

you answered your question yourself... Since AutoGK will never have such ability then it can't replace GK...

I don't get this one though: what has to be supported there ?
Bitrate calculator wasn't really changed in the last year or so. (well XviD was added, and that's it). Of course OGM and MKV will eventually come, but that is not much support. Most of the new features done recently are for those who actually use it for encoding... So I don't quite understand your worries.

That's intentional. If you had read main thread carefully (heck, it's only 1000 posts :) ) you would know the answer.
Anyway, to sum up: it won't be done because I'm very protective of the program and do not wish to spawn other packages/software based on it. I see it only as an end product...

Understood now :)
