View Full Version : Possible to create ifo from main VOB's?

Hello,
Through some carelessness, I managed to corrupt the ifo file for the main movie on The Rookie DVD.
All I have now is the main movie VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_5.VOB
It plays quite nicely on my PC. I also have VTS_01_INFO.TXT from when I ripped it last year.
Is there a simple way to reconstruct an ifo so I can run it through DVD Shrink and get it onto DVD?
THanks.

First of all, welcome on this forum :D
To create the .IFOs from a set of .VOB files, open IFOEdit, click on create IFOs, select the first option for each box in the upper part of the window, input the path of the first VOB, toggle same as source for the destination directory and click OK. Let IFOEdit process your VOBs and it will create VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO. If you have subtitles, follow this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=283424#post283424) by 2COOL to adjust their color (you need an IFO from an original DVD).
Also specify the language of your audio streams and subtitles with IFOEdit.
Have fun ;)

Since my post, I have been playing around with IFOEdit quite a bit. I haven't been successful at having it make new ifos from scratch, but you encourage me and I'll give it another try.
I'm not sure what boxes to check under create new ifo based on your description, so for now, I will
Check Correct Vob Pointer (hope they don't mind being corrected repeatedly :-)
Check Correct Original IFO files
Check Create new IFO file
Uncheck Re-Mux
Uncheck Strip Streams
Uncheck Strip VobID's
As far as how I corrupted the original ifo, well, i played around with things for a total of 5 hrs or so, and when i was no further along then when i started, i corrupted it right into the recycle bin.
Hehe.
Happy holidays.
I will let you know later today if I was successful.

After the VOBs are processed I get the following popup:
"There is no TimeMap table!
Skipping TMap table creation"
When I click "OK", IFOEdit v.096 crashes and no ifo's are created.
Guess I pushed too many buttons over the last couple of days.

From your description I guess you clicked on VOB extras, but you don't need to do that, just click on Create IFOs, and that's all!

Thanks buddy. What I was doing was using Open to load the first vob. With that, the CreateIFOs button was always grayed out and I never noticed it. I was then using the VOBExtras button because that was the only option for me.

So, after reading your last post, I just start the IFOEdit and the CreateIFO Button was active. The window that opened was as you described in your first post.

Worked great.
Thank you very much. Only problem is now that I've watched bits and pieces of the movie 100 times or so, the idea of seeing it from beginning to end has wained in its excitement.

Many thanks to you.
