I joined 3 different MPEG2 files each 700MB+ in size using the MPEG tools and the merged file is only 1.5GB in size! Is that normal?? The merged file appears to be of the same quality as the original but I am just curious to know how its possible(?)

No that's not normal. You probably lost a segment of your video, maybe you trimmed one of your clips by mistake. Merge&Cut function does not re-encode mpegs, so the quality will always remain the same. I guess you'll have to watch entire merged video to see if anything's missing, or just perform the merging one more time.

Make sure you have it set to SVCD setting in the drop down, if you are making an SVCD...
I also found out, if you multiplex a pulldown.exe m2v file with TMPGEnc's multiplexer, it comes out smaller as if you multiplexed it in bbmpeg. (As apposed to a pulldown through it's internal pulldown when converting.) This worries me, as if it's leaving something from the header or something.
