Hi im rather new to Xvid, im using virtualdub and the settings shown in the updated doom9 guide, (AS 5) plus its in cartoon mode, i chose the target size to be 647329 Kb but the final file was 1 gig.
How can i get the final file size closer to the target. Plus which options affect the file size the most.
Cheers

How you do encoding? 2-pass method? Then specify your 2-pass settings.
Note that desired size can only be obtained if you do a 2-pass encoding.1-pass CBR can also obtain desired size with some error.

Im aiming for 1 700 mb cd encode here, but if the quality isnot good enough i don't mind doing a 2 cd.

The latest 'hot' compliations from xvid.gamrdev.com make a oversized 2nd-pass files (any source unfinished changes?), but beta2 from Koepi is good at this problem.

I just had same problem for no reason. Nothing helped until I hit "load defaults". Strange thing.... I actually checked and the statsfile wasn't open at all (the path was good, I even set it again...).

same problem x_x
doing a two pass, everything at default except the end credits at 50% of quality (set in both passes), and what I obtain is a >200MB greater video file.
(this is my second try with the 1.0b, the previous was allright)

@ rivers
I could be wrong but isn't there a bug in xvid beta2 when creating a zone with weight for credits? Could you try to encode your credits with a constant quantizer instead and report if your problem remains?
