2.1 Audio vs 5.1 Audio

Ok, I just have a quick question. I'm trying to backup some of my DVDs using DVD Shrink and I was wondering if there is a difference between using 2.1 and 5.1 audio streams, in terms of sound and whatnot, when it's being played on a 2.1 system. Keep in mind that I will always be playing them on a 2.1 System and all I want to know is will the 5.1 audio stream sound different then the 2.1 stream or is there no difference?

You won't be able to tell the difference, the 5.1 will be downmixed. I usually keep the 5.1 and or dts audio. Never know when you will upgrade.
