OK, i did a search but did'nt find what i was wondering. Now with the extras whats the lowest bitrate you would use ? , i would'nt go lower than 2000k.
I also read that on interlaced stuff like the pal extras normally are, if using a lower bitrate its better to deinterlace, any truth behind this ?? if so is the quality anygood as i've also read deinterlacing mess' the picture up or cause's ghosting. as i encode interlaced stuff interlaced.
This i more a thread to see what most of the other user do with the extras, not really a ' i need some help thread '

Well, I generall use 1850 for my extras. Admittedly, I am not a PAL user and I don't know if the lower bitrate would cause any problems with PAL material. 1850 does work good on NTSC. It gives you reasonable quality with good compression and almost no artifacts.

define "good quality". less blocking or less ghosting? that should answer your question.

As interlaced material requires a higher bitrate, at lower bitrates it's more likely that the problems associated with de-interlacing aren't as bad as those resulting from using a low bitrate on material that needs more space than you are willing to provide.
I don't even keep extras - I prefer not to 'butcher' the main movie - so I can't comment on what my experiences are, because I don't have any.

then your answer is "buy the damn dvd". less blocking, less ghosting, and full bitrate.

Not to sound rude but why would i go out and buy the dvd if i already have the dvd ??
Anyways i guessing on extras with a low bitrate to get less ghosting dont deinterlace, to get better quality deinterlace.I'll give deinterceing a test run when i get some more dvdrs and when i get the time.
I take it i just use this in the avs that dif4u gives ' FieldDeinterlace() '. Nothing between the brakets right.

exactly. don't expect "less blocking less ghosting" with 1800. you get one or another.
