Hello,

I am using a very old DVD player, Pioneer 525. And any movie I play that is dual layered, I get the 1-2 second pause while my player switches layers.

Is this a limitation of my player, and that when I purchase a new one this will not be a problem?

I have also backed up several of my movies with DVDShrink 2.3, and for some reason after compressing the main movie onto a single DVD-R, I still get that pause even though there is no layer switch. I believe there is a feature DVDShrink 3.1 has that will address this, but will I continue to have this problem with my existing 2.3 backups even if I buy a new DVD player?

Thanks a lot for your help

Lonwa

The 1-2 second layer change pause is typical of most DVD players. Only real expensive models (like the top-of-the-line Denon's) have big buffers to reduce or eliminate the layer change pause time. But I feel spending $1000 isn't worth it to not have one 1-2sec pause for a 2hour+ movie!

As far as DVD-Shrink, yes the current versions do not eliminate the layer change pause so it will occur on all players the same as the original disc. You have to wait for a new version that eliminates that.
