View Full Version : Historical question: Which were Koepi's 'simple IDCT' builds?

Hi,

I'm not at home these days, and therefore cannot check my database.

I need to provide a friend with the latest XviD-version using _Simple IDCT_.

Now, I'm not quite sure:
- 05042003-1 used simple IDCT, for sure
- 24062003-1 used Walken IDCT again, for sure
- 19062003-1 was somewhat buggy, IIRC
- 14052003-1 <-- was this simple IDCT, or Walken IDCT ???

BTW, someone knows which was the _first_ build using simple IDCT? Some build from January?
Would be great if someone remembers and could tell me. I failed to figure it out through a forum search, sorry.

Thanks

- Didée

Well, I'm not at home either and can't really tell you. But if you have the builds at hand, why not just install it and look it up in the about panel? IIRC Koepi always tagged it with "Simple IDCT".
Best regards,
JimiK

Ooops - yes, that's it!

Mind you, I didn't remember that the used IDCT was stated in the "about" comments of those buids.

So, now I found my memory was not all that bad:
14052003-1 : simple IDCT
19062003-1 : simple IDCT, but buggy (no, not stated under "about ;) )
24062003-1 : Walken IDCT again

Thanks for the hint, JimiK!

You're welcome :)
OT: And thank you for all the tests you're doing. Your posts are always worth the reading.
Sincerely,

Latest XviD builds use Simple/Walken to decode based on the version tag in the stream.

Huh?

Isn't it so, that e.g. Nic's & Umaniac's builds (always Walken IDCT) have the same version tag as Koepi's builds (Simple IDCT in that period)?
When that topic was discussed on the ML, I think the consens was that it's not possible to decide the IDCT question by the version number only?
(Would be a good thing if I'm wrong in this point ;) )
