This only recently started happening. Used to be, DVDinfoPro produced the typical, nice arc (on good discs). Now, it produces a flat line, starts reading at about 2.31, and stays there for the whole operation. Any clue why this is happening? It happens with any disc. I have another drive, a DVD-rom, and speed tests on the same discs in that drive produce the normal arc type graph. Thanks.
UPDATE: Nic, author of DVDinfoPro, mentions a constant 2.3 read speed as characteristic of DVD-video format discs--if I correctly understand what he said HERE (http://www.netfarer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=103). Indeed, I have a constant 2.3 read speed happening. I'm still having this "problem," after un/re-installing the drive in question and DVDinfoPro. As far as I know, I've been burning "DVD-video" discs for about a year now, with no changes, using pretty much the same tools. Suddenly, this one drive is behaving differently, or maybe the way DVDinfoPro accesses it has changed. I'd welcome any thoughts as to what's going on. More thanks.
UPDATE: Problem fixed, via a de/re-install of the secondary IDE controller. I got the tip, finally, in the thread cited above. Go figure.
