View Full Version : "Use CCE Template" greyed out

I have the latest version of DVD2SVCD, EclCCE, and CCE 2.67.00.11. I also downloaded the ccetemplates and merged them into the registry. But when I use DVD2SVCD and go into the advanced settings the "use cce template" part is greyed out so I cannot use any of the templates. I've even tried making the templates myself but still no luck. Any ideas of what the problem could be? I've searched but no answers. Thanks.

This happens if you have D2S open and the open cce and make a custom template, then try to choose it, close D2S and reopen and it will be there and selectable.

Nope still not there. I even tried rebooting and still nothing

OK, I figured out what the problem was, I was actually installing version 2.67.00.23 of CCE and the templates don't work for some reason. But when I installed 2.67.00.11 they do work. I have installed the latest EclCCE 1.7b which supposedly supports version 2.67.00.23. So it has something to do with 2.67.00.23. Is there a fix for this?

What templates? RB's for SVCD? First try this run regedit Start >Run regedit and delete [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Custom Technology]
Then go follow this topic where ddogg explains how to make your own template http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64800 That sure should work.

Yeah RB's templates. I did the regedit thing and made my own templates, still nothing. I'm pretty sure it's something with 2.67.00.23 and DVD2SVCD.
Note: The templates show up in CCE itself (by just opening up CCE). But do not show up on DVD2SVCD (the option is greyed out).

I can confirm this. It is not only CCE 2.67.00.23, the same is true for 2.67.00.21.
Waiting for a new build of DVD2SVCD....

I also confirm this problem. Using CCE 2.67.00.23. Box is greyed out as other posters have said.

Also I have this problems.
The problems are with the last EclCCE 1.7b and 2.67.00.21 through CCE-SP 2.67.00.23.
With EclCCE 1.7a and previous versions of CCE, no problems.
Even editing dvd2svcd.ini and replacing "Use CCE Template=0" with "Use CCE Template=1" no chance.
I made a copy of dvd2svcd.ini and replaced "Use CCE Template=0" with "Use CCE Template=1" in notepad.
Then opened D2S and and changing the CCE encoder to an previous version which is working with EclCCE 1.7a and I checked "Use CCE Template". Switching again to CCE encoder with EclCCE 1.7b and loading the copy of dvd2svcd.ini that I made previous, I can select an template but even the Use CCE Template is checked but greyed out.
I don't know if now D2S is using that template.
I hope RB will fix this problem because is too much for me.

It should be pointed out that this template issue does not prevent you from using v2.67.00.23 with DVD2SVCD.
From DVD2SVCD readme:
- Enhancement: Support for CCE Templates (sort of). You can select a CCE Template in dvd2svcd, but this is only for settings which isn't already in dvd2svcd. That is, the template will _not_ overwrite the settings already existing in dvd2svcd.
So delete any templates you have created. Close & restart cce & edit the standard template to how you want it i.e. correct GOP sequence (3/4), check end sequence code, time code 00 00 00 00, uncheck audio, disable filters etc etc.
Then it just comes down to the settings in DVD2SVCD. If progressive material check zigzag & progressive. If interlaced then don't check them.
I have used it by doing so with good results.
Incidentally, I have seen posts claiming that this template issue is ecl related. It isn't - DVD2SVCD still doesn't find the templates even if DVD2SVCD points to the ccspt.exe directly. Please be cautious and do some more experiments before claiming other people's free software (that developing takes up their valuable time) doesn't work.

Bob

Neat, they must be on to us :) :) The template information isn't stored in the registry anymore :( If it is, it's not listed under Custom Technology ... :)

@Holomatrix the templates I made were,

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\template\0]

Right, I have a bunch of templates that work for older versions of CCE but they are not being picked up by v2.67.00.23, I even imported the same reg key into [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\, this is where InstallPath of 2670023 got registered, but when going into this new CCE didn't even pick them up so I deleted the Key and loaded CCE and the templates are still listed in the program. That's why I came to my previous conclusion that the template configuration may no tbe stored in the registry anymore.
Are you using this new version and NOT having this problem?

I guess DVD2SVCD will need to be told to look in this location if using a newer versions of CCE. Hope this location is the same on everyone elses machine. Maybe this location ...S-1-5-21-82539751-1926309568-895032878-4221.. is ramdomly picked by the CCE installer then that would make it impossible for DVD2SVCD to know. But I'm not a programmer so not sure if that would be hard to figure out since DVD2SVCD reads the CCE version info from somewhere anyway, maybe he can read this new template location from somewhere as well ??

@holomatrix: I think syzygytec is right. b23 uses the same reg location as in previous versions. it also imported all my templates directly. Haven't figured out why D2S greyes out the template usage, though.

@syzygytec - we are talking about v2.67.00.23 not v2.67.00.13 Yeah so have I all along. It's a D2S thing my guess was version # I exescoped cctspt and tried to changed the version number everywhere I could find it to no avail, it really makes no difference to me anyway, I'm diehard 2.50.00.1 anyway (at least until I get a p4 HT then I'll be diehard TMPG and all this CCE will be in my past!) and it's 25% faster on my system as well
I also have to disagree with bob
So delete any templates you have created. Close & restart cce & edit the standard template to how you want it i.e. correct GOP sequence (3/4), check end sequence code, time code 00 00 00 00, uncheck audio, disable filters etc etc.
I did a test run, editing the standard don't work, it becomes unchecked and ignored. I did a test run and I ended when strangley I saw peaks going up to 10.3mbps

I'm at home now and my templates DID get carried over too. Weird ?? It's amazing how you think it is working a certain way on one PC and can argue some facts then go to another computer and have a debate with your ownself. It's not working on my work PC (not that I don't have anything to do at work :) ) but is working on my home PC. (Just talking about the templates between versions here) sorry, guys, I got fooled on my work PC and thought I was on to something to fix this problem with DVD2SVCD and greyed out templates, oh well, back to the drawing board.

Hi,
I have the latest version of DVD2SVCD 1.22.b3 with the roba plugin, EclCCE, and CCE 2.67.00.23.
I downloaded the cce templates and merged them into the registry. But when I use DVD2SVCD and go into the advanced settings the "use cce template" part is greyed out.
Is there now a solution to get the templates to work or not???
In want to create a DVD to DVD – do i need templates?? Or are the templates only for DVD to SVCD??

If I remember well, templates are stored in the registry. CCE developers changed the position of templates in the registry. What you downloaded may be the old version, so it may be in wrong place in the registry.
Try to run a registry cleaner.

12th October 2004, 21:36
The problem is to have two or more CCE installed versions.
You have to de-install all CCE versions you have, and install only the one you are going to work with. This will clean the registry and the templates will work.

...and I have tried all suggestions in this and the http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=64800 thread (with 2.67.00.23) and templates are still grayed out... :(
Uninstalling CCE and reverting to 2.50.01 seems to have solved both my problems, templates works and DVD2SVCD now manages to start encode in CCE.

In the DVD.ini file DVD2SVCD has there are two lines:
Use CCE Template=0
CCE Template=
Just setting the first line to 1 isn't enough, but what should be on the second line? A registry key? A number, counting from 0? (or 1?)
If editing this doesn't help, could it be an option in DVD2SVCD to input the registry key name where the CCE info could be found? Apparently DVD2SVCD sometimes can't locate it, even though the registry (as mine) only has CCE keys in one place...
Found out that the second line should be written like: "CCE Template=1 - Standard", but that doesn't help anyway...
I have tried the standard "Remove all keys concerning Custom Technology, Cinema Craft Encoder..." and then manually add a couple of templates in CCE, but DVD2SVCD is looking in the wrong place.
I check the "Encoder" tab in DVD2SVCD, where you should enter the path to either CCE or EclCCE. As a lead text DVD2SVCD displays Cinema Craft Encoder and the version number of CCE. Where does DVD2SVCD look for info about which is the installed version of CCE? In the registry? Or in one of the program's INI files? It thinks wrong about my CCE version, anyway...

Hotdiggidy!!!
I somehow stumbled into a solution of the "Greyed Out CCE Template"
problem! Here is what I did:
I looked inside the EclCCE.ini file in the directory where my CCE was
installed and it had this line:
CCE=ccespt.exe
Anyways, I have a dual boot system with my WinXP on the 'E:' drive
(which is actually the third partition, logical not primary). Somehow I
had the urge to include the whole path, drive, directory and folder to
that line, which I did as such:
CCE=E:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\ccespt.exe
This did the trick and now the CCE Template section is Ungreyed and accessible.
Now my DVD2SVCD 1.2.3 setup is running smoothly and CCE 2.67.0.23
is on automatic pilot and does not stare at me anymore. LOL! Rock!
All I could surmise is that there is something in the programming which
assumes that CCE is installed in the "C:" drive (which is not the case
all the time).
Eureka, Hallelujah! All this Computerranawhahwhahwhahfuzzerreeze (the term
I want to use when dealing with computer stuff) can be frustrating but at the
same time exhilirating when solve an irritating problem.
Hope this helps.
