Have you tried using CoreVorbis to decode the audio?

I suggest you try out a program called Foobar and see if you can hear all the channels from your 5.1 ogg. That would at least tell you that the problem is not your hardware or connections.
If you don't mind me asking, why are you using a 5.1 ogg? The Vorbis core still lacks proper channel coupling and other advanced filtering techniques that would be necessary to create a high quality multichannel track at a significantly lower bitrate than the AC3. Originally posted by ChristianHJW
Our 1st results with q = 2.5 to 3.5 resulted in about 300 kbps, so not much smaller than the original AC3 ( 384 kbps )
IMO AAC is currently the best audio codec for 5.1 audio.

I don't want to interfere with the mod, but the problem on SB Live with Vorbis multichannel playback is to my knowledge a driver and channel ordering issue. Please download the filter called ChannelDownmixer from http://www.trombettworks.com and configure it for 6 channel output. This will solve your problem. I had the same problem on my Audigy. Otherwise Hiro2k is right that AAC is much more efficient.

Now you see all the problems there are with 6 channell ogg!
Thanks Tiki for mentioning that, I had forgot about the channel mapping bug.

No prob. Anyway, Vorbis 6ch with -q 0.1 in BeSweet sounds really decent to my old ears. Unfortunately it still has 320 kBit/s for some concert DVDs. This is way too much and would be less if the channel coupling would be implemented for more than 2 channels. Btw. there are no problems with 6ch Vorbis in Matroska container, when decoded by CoreVorbis. This works really like a charm.
