I've ripped 18 chapters from various dvd karaoke disks. I've merged these chapters to 1 single vob file. I would like to create a menu for it. I'm using dvdlab. Can someone please show me steps by steps on how to create a simple menu with dvdlab? Thank you!

hi and welcome to the forum.
in most cases things can be explained better with pictures ;)
here is a link to the mediachance site which gives you tutorials on creating all kinds of menus in dvdlab
http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/index.html
hope that helps

Hello and thank you for your reply...I did a static menu with only texts but ran into a problem...here are the steps that I did...
1. open the vob file from "assets" window, select "use it w/o demuxing" and hit ok
2. drag the vob file from "assets" window to "movie 1" window
3. manually creating chapter points (total is 18), first chapter is 1 sec right after start of movie
4. add texts to "menu1"...the texts simply say chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3...chapter 18
5. link each chapter (1-18) in menu1 to the corresponding defined chapters in movie1
6. select project-->compile dvd with default settings and hit close when done
7. select tools-->ifo ediot-audio and defined 2 audio languages...hit ok when done
the connections diagram is as follow: first play and title--->menu1-->movie1-->menu1
I tested the created dvd project with powervd....the menu works...however, there is an extra chapter created...I don't know why...when I click on the next or prev button, it goes to the wrong chapter...can someone help please? thank you!

@ dieugido
sorry chief, i havent had a chance to play around with dvdlab all that much (although it is definitely on my to-do-list, my paying job keeps getting in the way of my hobies), so i am not the best person to ask.
3. manually creating chapter points (total is 18), first chapter is 1 sec right after start of movie
although this seems to suggest that it has created an additional chapter for the first second of video (giving you 19 chapters). try indexing the first chapter at the beginning and see if that fixes it.
just a thought....
@brownghost
not sure if your question pertains to the issues dieugido is asking, and i am not positive as to any solutions to offer except you could try this guide

BG If you are piggy backing on the DVD Lab solution, PRO version 1.4 BETA 1 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=410398#post410398) can now import and join titleset VOBs. I tried it and it works.

correct me if I am wrong...I came to the following conclusion after hours of playing with dvdlab and researching:
You cannot create a menu out of a joined vob file from multiple sources. Someone mentioned that DVDLab olny allow you to create the menu correctly if the joined vob file is the whole movie from a single disk.
I noticed the timecode for the joined vob file from multiple sources is not correct. For instance, a karaoke disk has 20 chapters, let's say I rip chapters 1, 2, 7, and 18. I then join these vob files. Import the joined file to dvdlab and the timecode I saw is as follow: ch. 1 runs from 0:0:0:0-0:4:59:00, chap 2 0:4:59:00-0:7:59:00, ch.7 0:34:25:00-0:39:24:00....and so on....why did dvdlab pick up the timecode where chapter 7 and 20 were on the original disk?...can ch.7 timecode starts right after ch.2? this only happens with vob files from same source...when I join vob files from multiple sources, sometime I see negative timecode....I hope future version of dvdlab will let me make my menu

Hi dieugido,
Which software did you use to rip karaoke chapters into separate vob(s)? Is that vobedit?
Thanks,
