As the subjest says I can't get dvdshrink to rip a dv9 faster than 1.87x I'm using a Liteon 811. whe I burn using nero I can burn at 4x using generic disks.

Any ideas please?

Rip speed and write speed are two different things.

Try using DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD and see how fast it goes at. I imagine it will be the same speed and that's a limitation of the drive. The drive probably is capped at 2x ripping of DVD-Video. Many drives are. Some drives have overrides that allow you to rip faster.

I would also guess that the reason its at 1.87x and not 2.0x might be because of the overhead of cracking the CSS.

Anyway, DVDdecrypter surely IS a good ripper to use. It can rip heavily damaged DVDs ;) .
