WTF ? Splitting a 2cd (1.4GB) movie gives three ~1.9GB parts

What's going on ?

GK made a fine 2CD movie (1.4GB)
then it tries to split it:

part 1 = 1.9GB
part 2 = 1.9GB
part 3 = 1.37GB


what is wrong ?
I did try the "Delete registry setting" button - it did not help.
